Vacancy: full time position as assistant professor in the discipline of taxation

The faculty of Economics and Business Administration has a vacancy for a professorship, starting from October 1st, 2016. It concerns a full time position as Professor in the rank of Assistant Professor tenure track in the Department of Accounting, Corporate Finance and taxation, charged with academic teaching (mostly in Dutch), academic research and carrying out academic services in the discipline of taxation.

On Thursday, March 17th, 2016, the Education Day Ghent University takes place at Het Pand.  The programme consists of several workshops for educators and staff, with contributions from our accounting team:

  • Problem-based learning and team-learning (Fanny Buysschaert and Patricia Everaert)
  • Semester meeting (Patricia Everaert and Fanny Buysschaert)
  • Exam matrix in Accounting (Patricia Everaert and Elke Minnaert)

Innoversity challenge: winning team

On 3 March 2016, the winning teams of the Innoversity Challenge were announced. Next academic year, they will transform their ideas into pilot projects.

innoversitychallengeThe project “Gamified learning”  (Jeroen Neckebrouck, Elke Minnaert, Evelien Opdecam and Patricia Everaert) is one of four winning teams.

‘We want to develop a mobile game that helps students to assess their existing knowledge of a specific course while challenging others in a competitive and stimulating environment. Our game enhances the engagement of students without placing an extra burden on the teaching staff. Also, everyone gets feedback on their learning process in a pleasant way.’

Issues in Accounting Education announces the appointment of Ignace De Beelde as an Associate Editor for the period 2016-2018.
Issues in Accounting Education is one of the three primary publications of the American Accounting Association. The mission of the journal is to publish research, commentaries, and instructional resources that assist accounting faculty in teaching and that examine important issues in accounting education.
